Meet our Massage Therapist Carla!
She studied the Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy at Victoria University, but found her fortè in the traditional Swedish/Relaxation Style massage.
The purpose of a Swedish style relaxation massage is to switch on your Rest & Digest nervous system. Also known as the parasympathetic nervous system.
The PNS is responsible for the body’s rest and digestion response when the body is relaxed, resting, or feeding. It basically undoes the work of sympathetic division after a stressful situation. The parasympathetic nervous system decreases respiration and heart rate and increases digestion.
Research performed by the Touch Research Institute in the U.S discovered that a 45-minute massage actually increases serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin levels in the brain, which help to balance and elevate our mood.
What is the pressure like?
That depends on you! Whether firm, medium or soft, just let our massage therapist know, and Carla will tailor it to what you desire.
So book yourself in for some self care, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
Massage Therapy Benefits
Muscle Recovery + Pain Relief
As our muscle fibres tense up due to exercise or staying in a stagnant position for too long, it can wind up the knots through out our muscles which has us feeling ‘tight’. With consistent broad and specific massage strokes, this helps the fibres to unwind and come back to a better range of movement.
Massage aims to flush cortisol (our stress hormone) and stimulate the happy hormones in our brain instead. As your breathing slows down during treatment, naturally your blood pressure will begin to drop as well. Which plays a large role in de-stressing.
Massage interrupts stress-inducing patterns and helps to restore your body to a balanced state, thereby alleviating the mental block of stress from your mind and allowing you to dedicate energy to thinking and completing important tasks.
Massages forces the body to relax, pulling muscles smooth and long again and causing an increase in blood circulation. These send signals to the brain that tell it to calm down and rest, and so a good night’s sleep tends to be followed.
The Benefits of Floatation & Massage Combined
The Epsom Salt water solution in the float tank helps to flush out toxins, and releases tension from your muscles and joints.
Providing immense relief for your mind and body, it makes floating the perfect preparation for your massage.
With your mind and body already relaxed, you’ll be able to continue to float seamlessly from the tank to the table!
